In conjunction with USA Today Eats, join Mark Agnello, Wegmans beer category merchant (head beer buyer), Roc Brewing brewer/chef Josh Hunt, and me held a Facebook live chat from the Democrat and Chronicle studio.
Agnello, who has been with Wegmans for 29 years, is responsible for deciding which beers you'll find on the shelves in each store. "There's a story behind every beer," he said. Agnello also aids in the quarterly food and beer pairings in Wegmans' Menu magazine. He said it's imperative for the beer to complement, contrast, or balance whatever food you end up pairing it with.
Hunt, an assistant brewer and chef at Roc Brewing, is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to food and drink pairings. Hunt is a graduate of Johnson & Wales and has worked in some great restaurants, including past stops at Wegmans. He is responsible for all of the food at Roc and also comes up with the recipes for Roc's fruited sours.
