A company with a cause isopening in Kansas City. "Call Sign Brewing” is owned by Veterans, andsupports Veterans and first responders. The owners' vision is it will be morethan just a place to drink beer. “There’s going to be apurpose, we're going to honor the fallen military, but we're also going to giveback to the community,” said Steve Sirois, owner of “Call Sign Brewing” innorth Kansas City. Sirois has served in the AirForce nearly 30 years. “Being up in the sky in pretty wild,” said Sirois, whohas deployed multiple times all over the world. Steve started brewing beer outof his garage about a decade ago, and decided to name his beers after the callsigns of downed U.S. military aircraft. Family members of the fallen tooknotice at beer fest events. “It was more motivating tome when I'm representing her husband's call sign, and just the effect you getfrom individuals saying thank you very much." Steve has known some of thecrews he's honoring; he's shared tears with their family at events. “When youget that kind of reaction from a family member, it's like I've got to do this, itmeans something to somebody, and I think that day was my calling.” Steve plans to have 12 taps.He also plans to give to local Veteran's charities, including those who focuson PTSD and suicide prevention. “If I can affect one person, and change theirmind, all of this is going to be worth it.” Call Sign Brewing will beoff I-29 and East 16th Avenue, north of the Missouri River, in Kansas City. It’scurrently under construction, with plans to open in late February. The ownersare looking for volunteers and funding.
