With 2018 now behind us, breweries are greeting the new year with a variety of interesting cold-weather offerings…And we’ve several uber-interesting craft beer directions that you’ll want to chase down.

Golden Daze (Alexandria, VA) – On January 18th, Port City Brewing will debut the newest entry in its popular Rotating Lager Series and it’s something we’re really excited about! Inspired by the blonde export lagers invented in late-19th century, Germany Port City Golden Export Lager is a 5.8% ABV limited release that is slightly stronger than the somewhat similar Helles and Pilsner styles, but no less delicious.

Drinking Japanese (Japan) – The Japan Food Product Overseas Promotion Center is currently championing 23 Japanese craft breweries here in the US. And one of its fascinating imports may owe more to Europe than it does Asia. Surprisingly true to Austria’s Bock beer tradition, Karuizawa Brewery Premium Dark is a 5.5% ABV Vienna-style Amber Lager with rich aromatics and a crisp and clean finish.

A Rummy Tummy Pleaser (Fort Collins, CO) – We recently tapped into a 32oz crowler of a cold-weather pleaser from Colorado’s Maxline Brewing that’s the brewery’s first foray into barrel-aging. Full-bodied and a perfect release for January’s cold, Maxline Rummy In My Tummy is their 2017’s Winter Warmer aged for more than a year in Copper Muse Rum Barrels. Morning Glory Daze (Gainesville, FL) – Swamp Head Brewing is returning a fan favorite with a spiffy new label. And even better, it’s now part of the brewery’s 2019’s seasonal line. Swamp Head Morning Glow is a 5.3% ABV Coffee Blonde Ale brewed with locally sourced coffee from Gainesville, and pure vanilla bean from Madagascar.

Rye Times At The Ratskeller (St Paul, MN) – Summit Brewing has a new winter release that’s exclusive to the Ratskeller Reserve Collection Variety 12-Pack. Fueled on uber-spicy rye notes and pouring deep dark amber, Summit Triple Rye is a 5.5% ABV Amber Ale that’s full-bodied yet refreshing and totally drinkable.
