Interesting that it took over 10 years for this complaint to show up....

I'm sure it'll be on The View on Monday and hashtag movements everywhere. I seriously hate the victimized crybaby that society has turned into. Brings me closer and closer to permanently cutting myself off from all forms on social media and online forums.

They are also targeting Foothill's Jade IPA because it basically says "Jade. Exotic jewel of the orient. Now a gem of an IPA..."

So stupid, would they be ok with it if they showed a white woman with the label "sexual chocolate"? Or would that some how be offensive also? This is why I drink.

This is why I spend most of my time on BA it seems like the rest of the world has gone crazy. It's like they scour the world looking for something to bitch about. Why wait until now???

Ah, they're boycotting Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as sexist and racist too. Get a fucking life. I wouldn't change shit, don't like the name don't buy it.

Their people's Porter branding reeks of old timey propaganda posters

Some breweries think they're slick. Some actually are pretty innovative. Some steal ideas and try to make their own. I mostly try to say good beer sells itself without gimmicky names. But gimmicks are in every facet of life.

There are so many puns and cues from pop culture attached to beer names now. You really could boycott half the breweries out there with many of their beers names offending some group out there.

I'll not let others bash these guys without a serious debate. If you know the folks at Foothills, there is nothing overt about their intent relative to the suggestive packaging and nomenclature. Rather than make this about a screed against political correctness, it's much more like embracing and celebrating a huge part of our culture. It is about beauty and sensuality, and I would bet that most folks know the difference between objectifying and celebrating.

God damn there are alot of white people in this thread telling other people that they can't be offended at the bullshit white people pull daily. Beeradvocate is getting mighty yikes.

So.....this beer has been around for what is essentially an "eon" in craft-beer years. @YesYoureRacist is a bit late to the party.

I'm not dismissing the complaint out of hand (the promo is objectively tacky, irrespective of one's socio-political leanings), but it feels like someone was spending a few hours trolling around the internet looking for something to blast.

I don't think a bunch of white males (which is likely the majority of people posting on this thread) really have the right to comment on what might offend someone else. It's easy to say that people shouldn't be offended when you aren't the one being offended.

Considering it took over 60 years for someone to complain about “Baby it’s Cold Outside” I would say they are becoming more efficient.
Speaking of, note to the world, “what’s in this drink” was a joke/excuse of behavior at the time. Watch a sitcom or 2.

Not that long ago I was at Foothills, when they had a desert festival at the brewery with people selling cupcakes, brownies, cookies ect. Several of these tables/businesses were owned and operated by African Americans (for lack of better word since we are all American). They proudly promoted their products as being a great compliment to Sexual Chocolate. Black, White, and Asian people enjoyed sampling thier treats along with sexual chocolate. No issues. Someone should have told them they were supporting racists, and obviously us racist should not have purchased thier products while we were enjoying this offensive product.

So this is a good point, I texted the others in my local beer share group to see what they think as well as my daughter who is black. I will report back. there are 3 white males in our group along with our local beer store manager who is Asian and the other guy I work with who is black. I think this is a pretty diverse group. My biggest point is I only see this on the internet. The people I work with everyday (very diverse group) think most of this stuff is stupid.

I would like to know what it is about Foothills naming and packaging that most bothers you. I was always curious about how little flak they received, and I figured most everyone sort of gave them a pass.
Racism is alive and well everywhere. As a junior in high school I was asked to escort a friend and great young quarterback to visit Duke (1968) We were friendly competitors. He was the first black man to be recruited by Duke University for football. He ended up going to Rice. This area is rife with Quaker and Moravian heritage These have been good long term influences. Castigate Foothills if you wish, but know them first,

Notwithstanding a couple of profane posts, I think the point most are making is that @YesYoureRacist's SJW post seems a little forced, regardless of its merits, which naturally engenders an eye-roll response..
