When one brewery door closes, another usually opens. Long-time Georgetown, Del., brewery 16 Mile closed for good in September this year but Revelation Brewing Co. is already set to move into the vacant space. The Rehoboth, Del.-based brewing company has quickly grown since launching two and a half years ago and needs the extra room for a capacity expansion.
“The response to our beers here at the beach and beyond has blown us away, and the growth has surpassed all expectations. We are proud of the experience and variety we offer. In order to continue to deliver on the high standards we have set and reach our goals, we need the right type of capacity. This opportunity in Georgetown is absolutely the right place for the right time,” said President and Brewmaster for Revelation, Patrick Staggs.
The former 16 Mile Brewery was a recognized partner in the community and following the acquisition, Revelation plans to fill that void and bring additional benefits to the locals in the area. For example the brewery in Georgetown will be offering a full menu on site which will match the quality and variety of the beers to the culinary equivalents. Additionally, the brewery will immediately be undertaking an expansion to include an outdoor seating area and events space.
“I am thankful for what Brett and the 16 Mile team has done to represent Delaware craft beer over the past decade, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to build on that foundation in Georgetown. The brewery was very well maintained, and that will allow us to bring it to the Revelation operating style very quickly. Wait until you see it. We can’t wait to show off what we have in store,” said Staggs.
Local growth
Delaware has a booming craft beer scene and while some see the market as getting crowded, Staggs said the opportunity for local growth is tremendous. The growth potential is visible in the uniquely high percentage of repeat guests as well as the number of restaurants and bars in the area now carrying Revelation on tap. The brewery’s location in Rehoboth is located right on the Junction and Breakwater Trail and has quickly become a well-known oasis for local cyclists.
“Rehoboth is our home, and we plan to continuously improve that home and always offer our guests the high-quality beers and the comfortable experience they have grown to love. The purchase in Georgetown is a key part in helping us secure that goal for the future,” said Staggs.
Anticipated opening date in Georgetown will be spring 2019.
