Fort Collins beer lovers have a new way to celebrate Valentine's Day.

The Downtown Business Association is hosting a new craft beer festival for the Feb. 14 holiday. The Summit will run from 6 to 9 p.m. at Block One, 428 Linden St.

"It is something for the true beer geeks," said Cameron Lalor, the communications coordinator for the Downtown Business Association.

The event features 17 craft breweries, all from within Fort Collins city limits. Summit Cider is also pouring at the event.

Tickets are $65 per person and available online at www.downtownfortcollins.com. Attendees receive a commemorative 10-ounce glass and get unlimited samples.

"You get your beers poured by the actual brewers," Lalor said. "If you have questions about a rare beer or how they made it, they can answer it right there for you."

The event also features appetizers incorporating beers from CooperSmith's Pub and Brewing, Equinox Brewing, Horse & Dragon Brewing, Odell Brewing and Purpose Brewing & Cellars beers. The food will be prepared by Z Catering.

The Downtown Business Association operates the annual Colorado Brewers Festival every summer. The 29th annual event is scheduled for June 22-24.

"Internally, we've talked about duplicating events like that seasonally," said Andrew Williams, special project manager for Downtown Business Association. "We really want to create another great experience."
