Wise, The Society Of Independent Brewers Makes A Wise Move

Wild Card Brewing’s Jaega Wise

The UK-based Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) has elected Wild Card Brewery’s Jaega Wise as their new director of the association’s South East region…not a bad move for this ‘wild card.’

A much respected brewer, Wise is an outspoken critic of institutionalized sexism in the beer industry calling for a ban on overtly sexualized labels on beer pumps and bottles from festivals organized by SIBA and the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

According to The Drinks Business, Jaega recently introduced a motion to the Society of Independent Brewers proposing that SIBA (which currently represents more than 850 independent craft breweries) “create & implement a more comprehensive marketing ‘Code of Practice’ for its members, to specifically include the issue of sexist or otherwise discriminatory images and language.”

That motion passed unopposed, and will be entered into consideration at SIBA’s next board meeting in February.

Wise, who as we’ve reported is due to speak about discrimination at the Manchester Beer Festival later this month, added: “I am really pleased to have the opportunity to represent the South East region.”Wise, The Society Of Independent Brewers Makes A Wise Move

Great stuff…

And if Jaega Wise wasn’t impressive enough as a prominent head brewer, a soon to be SIBA director, as well as an  articulate female voice for the industry, you need to know that she’s also a  musical talent, who when she’s not brewing at Wild Card, spends her time on stage or in the recording studio.

And you can tap into her music HERE
