Ballast Point Brewing’s 2018 Beer Lineup

With 2017 now in the rear-view mirror, American breweries are positioning themselves in an increasingly competitive environment, with new additions to their portfolios. And here’s some of what Ballast Point Brewing has planned for 2018.

Ballast Point is addressing 2018 with a re-envisioned lineup of longtime favorites, new beers and new additions—including new 16oz cans.Ballast, Ballast Point Brewing’s 2018 Beer Lineup

Starting this year, Ballast Point is dividing their releases into three distinct series…the Discovery Series, the Flagship Series, and the Explorer Series.

The Discovery Series will focus on approachability and quality in this collection of beers that clock in at 6% ABV or below. And offerings like Fathom IPA and Bonito Blonde will feature new package design artwork emphasizing nautical themes and San Diego hometown pride.

The Flagship Series will showcase Ballast Point’s signature beers like Sculpin, Manta Ray, and Victory at Sea—pinnacles of their styles and premium award-winners. These beers come in bigger the Discovery Series with ABVs, of 7% or higher.

The Explorer Series is a collection of bold limited releases and adventurous styles, like barrel-aged and sour offerings. And in 2018, Ballast Point will be introducing two new beers to this adventurous series, Aloha Sculpin in February and Moscow Mule Ale, an effervescent ginger and lime sour scheduled for the summer.

Cans will also play a bigger part in Ballast Point’s plans this year…Ballast, Ballast Point Brewing’s 2018 Beer Lineup

They’ll be regularly rotating canned 6-packs as part of their Discovery Series. Plus the San Diego-headquartered brewery will be offering popular titles like Sculpin and Fathom IPA in 16oz cans for the very first time.

Two of Ballast Point’s previous year-rounds, Grunion, and Watermelon Dorado, will surface as seasonals this year. And offerings like Pumpkin Down, California Amber and Big Eye IPA will shift to ‘draft-only’ status, so you’ll have a reason to get out of the house in 2018.
