Love vinyl records? How about craft beer? There’s a new Des Moines event just for you

Craft beer and record collecting are set to collide in Des Moines’ East Village next week.

A first-time, bring-your-own-vinyl event coined “Turntable Thursday” takes over the Peace Tree Brewing Des Moines Branch (317 E. Court Ave.) on Feb. 15.

An opportunity for craft beer connoisseurs and audiophiles to intersect, Rogue Planet Music — the Des Moines-based record shop that opened its doors in 2017 — co-curated Turntable Thursday and plans to bring about 300 rare and classic records for collectors to thumb through.

The shop will also supply the night’s sound by setting up a high-fidelity “listening lounge” for spinning wax.

Peace Tree plans to tap Saison Noir, a barrel-finished, Belgian-style dark farmhouse ale, on event night.

What you should know before going:

• Records collectors are encouraged to bring albums for trading or selling. 
• Peace Tree will be pouring new and seasonal brews, such as the East Village IPA and American IPA with citra and mosaic hops.
• Festivities kick off at 7 p.m., running until 9 p.m.
• The best part? It’s free.

Organizers — Peace Tree’s Taylor Evans and Rogue Planet Music’s Jesse Pace — plan to hold gift certificate raffles throughout the night for attendees.

It’s booked now as a one-time event, but Evans and Pace said Turntable Thursday could return in the coming weeks.
