beer, Beer Alert – New Aged Exotics, Imperial Stouts And Mexican Lagers

Barrel-aged Stouts and bright Mexican Lagers punctuate our latest collection of brewed offerings for June…And we’ve five delicious craft beer directions that you’re gonna want to chase down as we dive into summer.

Mocha Madness Baby (Longmont, CO) – On July 7th (National Chocolate Day) Oskar Blues will be releasing a special version of their popular imperial stout. Massively doused with unsweetened pure liquid cacao made by Cholaca, Oskar Blues’ 12.9% ABV Bourbon Barrel Aged Ten FIDY was then dosed with Hotbox Roasters’ cold brew from Mexican coffee beans and aged for just short of a year in a blend of Kentucky bourbon barrels.

Border Crossing (Redlands, CA) – Hangar 24 has just introduced their first year-round addition for 2018. With its Baja instincts and SoCal swagger, Hangar 24’s newest offering, Adventura is a crisp 4.6% ABV Mexican Lager brewed  with salt from the Sea of Cortez and fresh-picked limes from California’s Central Valley.

Aged for more than 36 months in three different types of American whiskey barrelss, Owd Mac’s Imperial Stout is a 12.5% ABV blend that’s as aggressive as it is bold.

Common Cause (Alexandria, VA) – Port City Brewing is returning a beer that originated in 2012, when a massive storm rolled through the mid-Atlantic, knocking out power for about 5 million in the region. Port City’s power was down for five days which left them unable to control the fermentation temperature of a tank of lager. As a result the tank fermented at a higher temperature. The beer changed from a lager into a 4.8% ABV California Common and Derecho Common, now a summertime legend, was born.

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby (Austin, TX) – Uncle Billy’s Brewery is releasing its second summer seasonal for 2018 and we’re pretty damned excited for them. With a heritage that can be traced to mid-18th century Germany that’s been given a Lone Star twist, Uncle Billy’s Texas Ruby Red Radler is a 3.6% ABV melding of a bright European–style Golden Lager and Texas ruby red grapefruit juice.
