Sierra Nevada Chico Brewery Closed due to CampFire

Yikes. Hopefully crews can get this fire contained and minimize the impact on human life, even if beer isn't in the equation.

I saw the aftermath of the 2013 rim fire, and the last plumes of smoke from the Ferguson fire this year. Harrowing stuff. Godspeed to all the men and women out there working on containing the current fires.

 

I saw the news reporting the fire was close to Chico -- sending out all my positive vibes to the good folks.

We drove too close to a big one after visiting Sierra Nevada a few years ago, in the Donner Pass/Tahoe area. Living with close calls like that must be harrowing. The picture above really lends some perspective. Be safe and celebrate surviving by building a better future.

 

Toured that facility again last month. I live an hour south and it feels like the smoke is choking us out here. Can’t imagine what it’s like for the people that have been impacted directly. Many prayers for those affected.

Wow, that is a really impressive list of brewers. I'll certainly look forward to buying some Resilience at as many places as I can find. Also, I'm glad that Sierra Nevada came out unscathed, as did many breweries with our recent hurricanes. If anyone still doesn't believe in climate change hopefully these fires will at least have them leaning towards believing.

 

Like to try a few different brewery cans of this.

My issue is I bet around here the retail gets jacked up really high.

Maybe the wholesalers can get this out ASAP , not overcharge and the retail can price at cost +$1 to push it all out fast.

Why should it cost more to push it out fast? Or are you implying that the retailer will also help in selling it? Doubtful. Regardless, wholesalers and retailers price based on percentages. Even if the beer was $16 a case the initial distributor is probably taking close to 20% (now $19.20) and then the retailer is taking another 20 to 40% (bringing it to @ $25). $1 a case would be insane. $1 a can of bottle would be even more insane. Just pointing out the way it works.

 

$1 a six pack to get it out fresh and “do the right thing” by not profiteering off all the other “free” work being done.

This will guarantee cost me $40+ a case and $12+ a six pack. I get all the donation is done before I buy it and even if no one buys it there is still a full donation.

Just would like to see the wholesale and retail get on board once. I doubt that selling through 100 cases at plus a few $ over cost will hurt any retailer and will show good will.

Doubt it happens but you never know.

The place is basically the "Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory" of beer. I will pray for them.

 

They have been doing good work. When the taproom opened with a limited menu, the responders could come in and eat free. If someone from Paradise needed some clothes they could stop in the gift shop, and I saw $200,000 worth was passed out to them. On Thanksgiving they were serving, along with folks from Russian River.

I’ve been drinking their beers since the early 90’s and respect them more and more over the years. As the new breweries come in and out of fashion with turbid, lactose, whateverthefuck beers, these guys concentrate on quality and helping others. Buying a shit ton this Holiday Season!

SN started brewing their Resilience IPA today. They mentioned hoping to have kegs and 12oz cans to the nationwide market by the first of the year.
