A nanobrewery with roots in Hutchinson, Kan., is heading to downtown Mission, the Shawnee Mission Post reports

Brothers Jonathan and Charles Williamson are opening Sandhills Brewing inside the former Sue's Accessories space at 5612 Johnson Drive. The Williamsons are working to secure a special permit to brew and serve beer and plan to start installing brewing equipment inside the space this month. The nanobrewery would initially produce about 120 barrels by year's end and later expand to 150 barrels a year.

The brothers also plan to open a taproom featuring collaborations with area restaurants and food trucks.

Sandhills Brewing offers oak-fermented and oak-aged specialty beers as well as a variety of IPAs, Scotch ales, stouts and others, according to its website. Some of its year-round beers include the New England-style pale ale Wren, which features bright and tropical fruit notes; New England-style IPA Junco, which features Magnum, Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops; and the Sparrow, a dark mild beer with notes of caramel, nuts and toffee.
