A new report has confirmed something Ohioans probably already know.

Beer is big business in Ohio.

A new report from Craft Brewers Association ranks Ohio as the seventh-largest beer market economy in the U.S.

Here are some factors that contribute to Ohio's ranking:

* About 1.3 million gallons of beer were produced in 2017 in Ohio, ranking fifth in the country

* Ohio has 225 breweries, which ranks 11th in the country

In addition, craft beer sales rose by 5 percent last year across the country and is about 12.7 percent of the American beer market by volume.
