(KUTV) — A Rocky Mountain beer producer is sending more than 300,000 cans of emergency canned drinking water to communities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia as the states prepare for the expected devastation of Hurricane Florence.

According to the Anheuser-Busch newsroom webpage, the six truckloads of water comes in response to requests from the American Red Cross and local wholesalers to prepare communities for the now Category 3 storm. The U.S. beer giant has a facility in Williamsburg, Virginia, but a Fort Collins, Colorado, brewery is putting its disaster relief capabilities to use, doubling the drinking water production capacity, according to the beer giant.

“Putting our production and logistics strengths to work by providing safe, clean drinking water is the best way we can help when disasters strike,” Michel Doukeris, CEO of Anheuser-Busch said.

According to the company, it has worked with the American Red Cross for three decades and have delivered more than 79 million cans of water to help people in need since 1988.

The company said in a Super Bowl add that it planned to expand its ability to deliver safe water with the Colorado brewery and said this effort is a delivery on that promise.

Emergency drinking water will be sent to Anheuser-Busch wholesaler partners Carolina Eagle, KW Beverage and R.A. Jeffreys, who will work with the American Red Cross, the South Carolina National Guard, and other local partners to distribute the water to those in need.

New can and truck designs that the company says "capture the spirit of the program," will be in use.

According to Anheuser-Busch, in 2017, the brewer provided almost three million cans of emergency drinking water to communities impacted by natural disasters, including in Texas, Florida, Georgia and California.

The company produces beer, under brands that include Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra and Stella Artois.
