Hundreds of breweries are teaming up on a new beer to benefit the victims of California's wildfires.Among those are two Cincinnati favorites: Rhinegeist and MadTree.Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is coordinating the nationwide effort to raise money for the communities affected by the Camp Fire in Butte County, California.The new brew will be called Resilience Butte County Proud IPA.Sierra Nevada Brewing's owner developed the recipe and shared it earlier this month in a viral Facebook post.He invited brewers across the country to make the beer.Sierra Nevada Brewing is based in Chico, just outside of Paradise, California, which was nearly leveled by the fires.“The craft beer world is like a big family, and this is the least we can do to help a fellow community in need,” said Chris Erickson, owner of the two Lake Placid breweries. “We know Ken, he has visited our brewery in the past, so it was an easy decision when he beckoned fellow brewers to help. It breaks our heart to see what those in Chico and Paradise are going through due to the devastating fires.”The special IPA batch will be 6.7 percent alcohol by volume and have an IBU of 70.One hundred percent of the sales proceeds will be sent to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund.Sierra Nevada Brewing initially donated $100,000 to create the fund.We have yet to hear when the beers will be complete or how much of it the breweries will produce.
