But now a noted beer journalist has launched a campaign to call attention to these endangered beers before brewers are forced to abandon them all together.
Stephen Beaumont is one of the nation’s most accomplished beer writers. He’s authored thirteen books on the subject and he’s passionate about the reality of some of craft beer’s most important flagship beers possibly disappearing.
And in an effort to call attention to classic craft beers that are still as delicious as ever…and to help out the many craft breweries that rely on their flagship offerings to keep them afloat, Beaumont has launched a campaign called #FlagshipFebruary
It’s a month-long celebration of flagship beers, a grassroots movement and, not surprisingly, it’s getting some traction.
Speaking with Tara Nurin at Forbes Beaumont shared what led him to taking on this campaign….
“A lot of beer drinkers have developed a sort of ADD with respect to the beers they drink, so going for a glass of beer at the bar or pub becomes less a pleasant distraction and more a relentless search for what’s new and exciting.”
“In this mad rush towards the unusual and unknown, we tend to forget the great, familiar and still-wonderful beers that guided us all along the path to the craft beer renaissance.”
Beaumont’s right and we at American Craft Beer have to admit that we are as guilty as anyone when it comes to this kinda thing.
