I had Larry's Latest Flamingo last night and was extremely blown away by this one. If you are a fan of huge, fruit-forward sours... Pick it up!

The passionfruit and mango notes were stunning. Puree like. Perfect amount of souring, well executed. I am for sure going to the store to find at least two six packs of this one. I would love if this was available in summer though… Sitting on the deck in the sun with this beer would be awesome.

    Well done Bells…

I didn't care for it for that very reason... but glancing at it's numbers on BeerAdvocate, I'm clearly in the extreme minority of expressed opinions. I had their Lampshade Party IPA on draft on Friday and really enjoyed that... much more than the draft Double Two Hearted I've had in the past... but I look forward to giving Double Two Hearted another chance in bottles.

It's too bad that Consecrator will be a General Store release since I was just craving that beer last week.

The "Leaves of Grass" series is very nice news. According to Larry Bell:

Double Two Hearted sounds great, hopefully we see it here as I'm a huge fan of regular TH.

I dunno, I never "got" Oberon that much.

Since coming to Massachusetts recently, I've tried 4 of their beers and Oberon might be the only one I "get".

I enjoy an Oberon here and there on draft. A nice beer for a hot day!

I “got” Two Hearted & Oberon quickly. And enjoy Hopslam for a few pints too, now that it’s available in the NE.

I can see how all can be off-putting to some, though.

Oberon is a transcendent beer here in MI as that's often the gateway craft beer for most college students. It's also an event whereas Oberon is available year round to most of the country, in the Midwest it's a summer beer so the release signals the start of Spring into summer. I used to love Oberon but now I usually have one or two on release day then drink my yearly mini keg & that's it for me

It's a summer beer here too, I just always thought it was just "ok" and nothing else while others look forward to it each year. Now that you say it's a gateway beer for college students I sort of get it a bit more.

it seems to trade largely in it's associations with the start of summer and being part of a sort of rite of passage into adulthood/gateway beer. @core42 nailed it. But it is also just 'ok'. I suppose if you like the style it's alright but I still don't fully get the love until I remember the pain of michigan winter and the joy that any hint of spring can bring

I used to be a huge Two-Hearted fan a few years ago and used to long for a chance to try the double version. I still like TH, but my palate has changed. With that said, if I see a single bottle of DTH, I will definitely pick it up.

I’m very disappointed to read Consecrator won’t be released nationally this year. I’m a bock lover, and Bell’s brews one of the best. Could someone from the brewery shed some light on this decision? I’d like to know if this is just a one year suspension (perhaps because Fat Tuesday falls much later this year), and if they are planning to resume distribution next year. Looking at my schedule to see if I can fit in a quick road trip to Kalamazoo in March.

Around here unfortunately because of the price ($19.99/sixer) it didn't sell well at all and we have access to a much cheaper alternative, Troegenator, year round (and also some other seasonals).

Does anyone else feel sort of put off by the two-hearted ale label? Something about a fish with two hearts is not something pleasant.

the two hearted river is an esteemed fishing river, I think for trout. The fish are in the two hearted, the two hearts are not in a fish

Not even a little, just as a label with a cow on it doesn't bother me because it has four distinct stomachs from one. To each their own but internal biology sounds like an odd thing to be bothered by.

While trout have two hearts, the beer was named after the river.
