SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- If you’re a fan of craft beer, Southwest Missouri is a great place to be. You see right now there are six craft breweries in Springfield alone not to mention some of the others outside those city limits each one with its own unique lineup of house-made beers.

But pretty soon, seven Southwest Missouri breweries will have one beer in common Ashton Lewis with Springfield Brew Co. explains why.

“It’s called Resilience IPA,” Lewis explains. “It’s the brainchild of Sierra Nevada Brewing company out of Chico, California. The whole project is to get breweries working together to raise money for the victims of the fires out in Butte County.”

Lewis also says these seven local crews aren’t the only ones working on the Resilience IPA.

“There are about 8000 breweries in the US and so far 400 have signed up to do this. That’s amazing,” Lewis adds.

Maybe those hundreds of brewers across the country feel the same as Tyler Hoke of Lost Signal who says this felt like a more sincere way to help a community he feels connected to.

“We all wanted to help and give back but there are a lot of people we know in the brewing world who have been affected by it so it really does hit home for a lot of us,” Hoke says.

Curtis Marshall and Jen Leonard of Tie and Timber say it was finally a way to reach out a group of people they’d otherwise be unable to help.

“Communities being destroyed by disasters like this, that’s the first thought. Then the second is, How can I help,” Leonard says.
