New Belgium has released a second Fat Tire flavor.

The beer that first put New Belgium Brewing on the map now has a second flavor.

Fat Tire Belgian White hit shelves this week, joining the iconic Fat Tire Belgian-style ale that's been the Fort Collins brewery's flagship beer and all-time best seller since it launched 26 years ago.

The new beer was sampled on Tour de Fat events throughout the summer but launched in 12-ounce bottles, cans and on draft this week.

“Fat Tire Belgian White is a perfect reflection of our rich history and decades of experience brewing Belgian-style beers,” New Belgium Brewer Cody Reif said in a press release.

The new Fat Tire is made in a similar style to Belgian white beers made famous by Blue Moon and Shock Top.

New Belgium spices the new brew with Indian coriander — ground locally at Old Town Spice Shop in Fort Collins — and Seville orange peel. The hazy beer has a 5.2 percent ABV.

New Belgium discontinued Snapshot Wheat and Mothership Wit, both wheat beers, at the end of last year. The filtered Sunshine Wheat remains a year-round offering.

“We listened to what people want in a Belgian White and incorporated all that feedback into this beer," Reif said. "It definitely captures the spirit of everything we believe an authentic Belgian White should be, and what so many desire — subtle sweetness and light bodied.”

The original Fat Tire was one of the first beers produced by New Belgium when the brewery debuted back in 1991 out of a Fort Collins basement.

Last year, New Belgium released a 25th-anniversary pack that featured five twists on the original Fat Tire.

Fat Tire Belgian White will be welcomed at the 500 Linden St. brewery on Aug. 10 with a free concert headlined by singer/songwriter Skylar Grey. The Other Black opens at 7 p.m. and Grey, a five-time Grammy nominee, takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. All ages are welcome.
