Labor Day is now a memory and we’ve officially entered the fall beer season. That’s what’s at retail and that’s what we’re excited about …And we’ve 5 Post Labor Day releases that you’re definitely going to want to check out.
Pumpkin Beer Renegade (Denver, CO) – Renegade Brewing’s Brian O’Connell has never been a big fan of pumpkin beers, but every fall people drop by his popular brewery asking for one. So a couple seasons back, he begrudging started brewing unusual pumpkin concoctions like 2015’s Mayonnaise, a pumpkin spice cream ale made with, yes, mayonnaise. This year’s ‘draft-only’ pumpkin release is called Spaceboy and it may be the world’s first a hazy New England-style IPA brewed with pumpkin and some pumpkin spices.
Grounded (Ft Collins, CO) – Odell Brewing has a new year-round beer which incorporates a process where they grind down whole flower hops just minutes before they’re added to the boil. The result is HUGE hop aroma. Odell Rupture is the unbelievably aromatic result – a 6% ABV India Pale Ale where the hops take center stage but never ‘bitter’ you out.
Prestigious Pumpkin (Austin, TX) – Jester King has a new mixed culture uber-limited release that is as close as they get to a pumpkin beer. Jester King Autumnal Dichotomous, is a 5.3% ABV Farmhouse Ale that was brewed with grilled pumpkin, fig leaves, wood sorrel, and horehound!
Sour Spirits (San Marcos, CA) – Slumbering for more than 18 months in oak, The Lost Abbey’s newest sour offering is finally ready to ship. With a lemon tartness that gives way to a bouquet of subtle tropical fruit tones, Lost Abbey Ghosts in the Forest, is a 6% ABV Blonde Sour with a refreshingly dry and lightly oaked finish.
Giant Killer (Algonquin, IL) – Chicagoland’s Scorched Earth Brewing has a rep for brewing unusual beers like Foraging Swine, an ale that tastes like bacon. They also brew a GIANT IPA that demands attention. From its cloudy amber to its frothy white head, Scorched Earth Giant Killer IPA is a 6.7% ABV India Pale Ale with a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel.
