Winter beers and robust dark ales dominate our latest collection of mid-December beer releases…And we’ve six cold weather craft beer directions that you might want to chase down as we look the holidays.
Stout Stuff (St Louis, MO) – December’s a great time for drinking stouts and the more kinds of stouts, the better. Schlafly Beer has returned a winterized version of Stout Bout Variety Pack and here’s what they’ve included this time around…
- Blueberry Coffee Stout – This 5.7% ABV stout variation has just the right blend of sweetness and bite, and the locally roasted coffee plays off the seasonal blueberries surprisingly well.
- Mexican Chocolate Stout – Taking its lead from the tradition Mexican-style hot chocolate, this sweet and creamy 6.2% ABV variation was our favorite.
- Salted Caramel Stout – Pumped out of its mind on sea salt and caramel this 5% ABV stout is a sweet and bold declaration of decadence.
- Oatmeal Stout (5.7% ABV, 40 IBUs): This classic 5.7% ABV British-style stout is dark, smooth and vaguely sweet, but with just enough hop bitterness to counter the roasted malt’s nutty character.
Seeking Comfort (Athens, GA) – Creature Comforts Beer is returning a beloved winter seasonal just in time for the winter holidays. Perfect for December’s cooling temperatures, Creature Comforts Koko Buni is a rich and velvety 6.5% ABV Milk Porter brewed with specially curated toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, and coffee.
No Turnover At J Wakefield Brewing (Miami, FL) – J. Wakefield Brewing has partnered with the uber-hip Dyme Lyfe streetwear brand and Out The Huddle, a multimedia sports content platform, on the long overdue return of a beer that formerly known as Turnover. JWB Chains is the new name for this intriguingly juicy New England style IPA.
