beer, Beer Run – New Tropical Saisons, Summer Seasonals and Fruit Sours!

This weekend’s new beer offerings are surprisingly IPA-free …So welcome to our latest Beer Run for July…And there’s lots of things that we like here but none of them are India Pale Ales.

Maui Wowee (Kihei, Hawaii) – Maui Brewing, a fiercely local company, just canned a draft-only favorite for the very first time. Brewed with local lilikoi and passionfruit, Maui Lilikoi Saison is golden and hazy 5.5% ABV tart Saison that’s tropically toned.

Tennessee Bew Works Wines (Nashville, TN) – Known for its culinary-minded craft beer creations, Tennessee Brew Works has returned the 2018 version of something classic. Aged in City Winery 2015 Vintage Pinot Noir barrels Tennessee Brew Works 2018 Belgian Strong Ale is an 8% ABV exercise in complexity with profound fig, plum, apricot and tart cherry notes and a dry oaky finish.

Sour Power To The People! (Asheville, NC) – Hi-Wire Brewing is releasing something new from their Sour & Wild Ales Series this month that we can’t wait to get our hands on. Brewed with London Ale yeast for 2 weeks before resting in a red wine foeder on Brett for more than 11 months, Hi-Wire Vintage Sour Ale is an 8.11% ABV tribute to a classic trafition with nutty toffee notes and a soothing sourness.

Light and refreshing while still packing tons of flavor, Cape May’s The Bog Cranberry Shandy is a 3.9% ABV tart cranberry Wheat Ale blended with lemonade.

Razz Berried (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer brews a lot of directions, but one of the things they haven’t approached until now are sours. Debuting in their taproom on July 20th Heavy Seas Raspberry Sour is exactly that, a 5.75% ABV Belgian-style Ale crafted with over 600 pounds of whole raspberries using lactic fermentation. Think a Flanders Red, only from Baltimore.
