American Craft Beer Celebrates IPA Day 2017

IPA, American Craft Beer Celebrates IPA Day 2017

Today is IPA Day, a global celebration of craft beer’s most beloved and iconic style. We’ve already be starting celebrating here at the ACB compound and we suggest that you do too!

Founded back in 2011 by our friend Ashley Routson, along with Ryan Ross, IPA Day quickly became an international movement uniting the voices of craft beer lovers and industry professionals around the world.

Taking place every year, on the first Thursday of August, (today) this is a collective worldwide celebration is also a great opportunity to reflect on the importance of this style to the craft beer Industry.

The IPA has become craft beer’s ultimate flagship style and It’s popularly (and market share) sometimes seems unassailable.

There are now more than 5,562 currently producing beer in America and most of them wouldn’t be caught dead without their own signature IPA.

Many would argue (us included), that the American craft beer industry’s second generation was largely built on the back of America’s West Coast style IPA – the much more hop-forward take on IPA, American Craft Beer Celebrates IPA Day 2017the traditional malt-rich European India Pale Ale.

It was In the late 80’s and early 90’s that California breweries like Anchor and more significantly Sierra Nevada championed this then budding West Coast variation, which has gone to evolve and become the worldwide phenomenon that we’re all celebrating today

So raise a glass to the proud IPA (the current hottie being those New England hazy variations).

Cheers!

But ready yourself for tomorrow…because, like it or not. August 4th is International Beer Day and we expect you’ll want to be celebrating that as well.
