The Beavertown Extravaganza 2018 (United Kingdom) – The Beavertown Brewery is returning its massive two-day beer festival, the Beavertown Extravaganza 2018 this weekend (Sept 7th and 8th). And London’s craft beer fav will be bringing more than 40 brilliant brewers to the Printworks London for a beerganza of epic proportions. In the tradition of Central California’s famed Firestone Walker Invitational, the Beavertown Extravaganza is a celebration of, not just the UK’s considerable brewing scene, but also the world’s.
On the Big Screen– The best of this weekend’s bad bunch of new movie openings might be The Nun, a derivative Catholic-themed horror drama where a priest with a haunted past confronts a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun in Romania. Sound familiar?
TV Time & Streaming – Netflix has returned a darkly comedic crime drama based in a rural small town setting that just keeps getting better and better. Ozark stars Jason Bateman as a Chicago financial whiz who launders cartel money on the side. When things go south, he’s forced to relocate his family to the Ozarks while he tries to pay off a debt to a brutal Mexican drug lord. Bateman’s great as an everyman caught in a Breaking Bad spiral, and Laura Linney is impressive as his cheating yet increasingly supportive wife.
Breaking Bad Beer Drinking (Albuquerque, NM) – Home to AMC’s brilliant Breaking Bad television series, Albuquerque will be home New Mexico’s biggest craft beer festival this weekend when the 2018 Albuquerque Hopfest returns to the Isleta Resort & Casino, this Saturday, September 8th. This year’s festival will feature more than more than 60 of the region’s most exciting breweries, unlimited samplings, educational beer seminars and non-stop music…so you don’t want to miss this!
THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK
We’ll be celebrating cannabis-themed beer this weekend with a ‘California-only’ OneHitter Series release from Lagunitas. Brewed with cannabis terpenes provided by AbsoluteXtracts’ division, Lagunitas Supercritical is a 6.6% ABV ale with pot-forward instincts but not the pot buzz.
